Area and field of bearing application
Bearings play an important role in modern mechanics. Primitive analogues of this mechanism were known even before our era. Outwardly, such mechanisms only vaguely resembled modern bearings, but structural similarities were present. Finds in different parts of the world confirm this. Modern bearings are actively used in various fields and significantly simplify the operation of mechanisms. Below are the purpose, types and areas of bearing application.
Bearing Types and Kinds
The task of this mechanism is to provide uniform rotational movement while reducing friction between surfaces. There are different types and kinds of bearings. Depending on the friction force, plain bearings and rolling bearings are distinguished. From the names, it is possible to roughly understand the difference. Plain bearings work through sliding elements, while rolling bearings work through rolling elements. Sliding elements in bearings can be shafts and strips, and rolling elements can be cylinders, rollers or various balls.
Each bearing type is subdivided into different types depending on various characteristics. To give a rough idea, here are a few examples of rolling and plain bearing types. Rolling bearings are divided into roller and ball bearings. Roller bearings, in turn, are divided into cylindrical, needle, tapered and many others. Plain bearings can be divided into radial, thrust and radial-thrust bearings.
Application of Rolling Bearings
As already mentioned, the main structural elements of rolling bearings are rollers and balls. The design of such bearings allows them to support various shafts, mechanism axes and moving parts.
The areas and fields of bearing application are extremely important. For example, such mechanisms are indispensable in the manufacture of various vehicles and mechanisms. Some areas and fields of rolling bearing application include:
-
Equipment production. Rolling bearings are used in equipment for different industries, for example in the food industry. Such mechanisms make it possible to increase productivity and distribute resources more rationally.
-
Steel industry and non-ferrous metallurgy. Bearings are used at different production stages. They have high mechanical resistance and are therefore not afraid of impact loads.
-
Automotive industry and aviation. For example, ball bearings perform well when loads are constant and medium. Roller bearings are used when loads are significantly higher.
-
Household appliance production. Needle bearings are often used because they work well with small-sized objects.
Application of Plain Bearings
Plain bearings differ from rolling bearings, but their application areas are similar. Such bearings are actively used in the manufacture of various equipment, railway machinery, the automotive industry and the aviation industry. Radial plain bearings are especially popular.
The areas and fields of plain bearing application also include agricultural machinery and construction equipment. Such bearings are actively used where there is a probability of high impact loads and unfavorable natural conditions.
Without doubt, at the current stage of industrial development, it is impossible to do without bearings. This field is actively developing in many countries around the world, including Ukraine.
