How many pieces of timber are in one cubic meter

When buying sawn timber, it is often necessary to know how many pieces of timber are in one cubic meter. Below is a simple formula and a table for common sizes.

To calculate the number of pieces in 1 m³, divide one by the width, height and length of one timber piece, all converted to meters. For example, take a size of 200x300x2000 mm.

Formula for calculating pieces of timber in one cubic meter
1 / width / height / length

Substituting the values gives: 1 / 0.2 / 0.3 / 2 = 8.3 pcs. Since whole pieces are usually needed, a 200x300x2000 mm timber size gives 8 whole pieces in one cubic meter.

Timber size, mmPieces in 1 m³
100x100x600016.6
150x100x600011.1
150x150x60007.4
200x100x60008.3
200x150x60005.5
200x200x60004.1

Knowing the weight of 1 m³ of wood and the number of pieces in one cubic meter, you can also estimate the weight of one timber piece. For an accurate calculation, consider wood species, moisture content and actual dimensions.
